As you can see…lot’s of tile was used on this project. Notice the small glass pieces (matching the wall color) that were added to the mix. Each one of those had to be added separately because they needed to have white mortar behind them to make the color stand out.

Here is a closer look at the shower detail…
1 day agoWell…here it is!
Beautiful new tub (as large as the old tub but fit the space better). New air jetted style with “tiny bubbles” run by a panel with memory so every member of the family can have their own setting. The front panel of the tub is removable so that the motor can be accessed. The tub is an under mount with a granite top for easy cleaning. No more dirty caulk!
The cabinets were custom built by a local cabinet maker. I was fortunate enough to be in on the process of staining distressing them. 20 grit sandpaper and a hammer does a great job.
We added a top center cabinet with reeded glass and a continuous wood trim to top the mirrors and house the light fixtures.
The floor is tiled with large 18” tiles in a brick pattern to give it some interest and a cohesiveness to the other decorative tiles.
Check out how open the shower looks now! Making the shower twice as large and adding a glass door and 1/2 wall makes that happen. There are two shower heads, plus a hand held. Certainly no shortage of water there.
Master bath remodel
This renovation was finished just in time for Christmas! The bathroom was gutted down to the studs with the exception of one half of a wall.
The toilet was moved into the old closet area, which freed up room to put in a double shower. The old oval tub which took up a large amount of space was removed. The tub was so big it almost didn’t make it out of the house in one piece!
All the fixtures were taken to the Re-Store for re-use buy another homeowner…which meant that I of course came home with more “stuff” for me by using the store credits I got for bringing everything in :)

I have slowly been re-doing the “last child out of the nest’s” room. It all started with the fabric you see on the pillows. Lavender, teal, chocolate and cream…
I have re-painted the walls in a two tone lavender, painted the floor in chocolate and stone, and painted the ceiling stone as well. I made new curtains in chocolate and cream, the pillows you see and the bedding is stone. I have yet to make the bed skirt, and am thinking a cow hide throw rug will be in the mix soon!
But…what I really wanted to show you is the piece of art done by a local Ferndale artist Rocky Johnson. I won this at the Women’s Professional Networking Gala http://wpnbellingham.org, and look how great it looks in this room!
Stay tuned as I continue to update this room.
4 days agoCondo fire damage renovation continued…
With a very tight budget, the builders were able to renovate this one bedroom condo with pretty good product. Because the condo is a long term furnished rental, this is where I came in.
With a budget of $5000 I had to completely furnish, purchase small appliances, dishes, bedding, flat screen TV, everything you could possible need if you were going to move in with just your clothing!
Needless to say, there were two whole days of putting together furniture…I bet you can guess where it all came from :)

This one bedroom condo had a fire in the utility closet which burned some of the rooms, and caused spoke damage in the rest. This is how it looked before the remodel.
Warning: Clean out your dryer lint traps!
